Sustainable woods come from forests managed to assure the conservation and replenishment of native hardwood species and to maintain the forest ecosystem.

Lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative program, the Canadian Standards Association Forest Products Marking Program and other similar programs costs slightly more than lumber that is not monitored by one of these organizations.
